Tennessee lawmakers ax Kiffin resolution in mock vote

NASHVILLE - Tennessee lawmakers are resoundingly rejecting their customary annual resolution to honor the football coach of the University of Tennessee.

Republican House Speaker Kent Williams of Elizabethton on Wednesday asked members of the chamber to hold a voice vote on whether to congratulate Lane Kiffin for his year of service in charge of the Volunteers.

The response? A unanimous: "No!"

Lane Kiffin abruptly left Tennessee on Tuesday to take charge of the football program at the University of Southern California. Kiffin went 7-6 in his only season at Tennessee.
