Riddle resigns from Convention Center

Longtime Chattanooga Convention Center Executive Director Tim Riddle resigned Wednesday from his post, saying it was time to return to the private sector.

"It's been a good run," said Mr. Riddle, who'll be leaving at the end of the month after having served at the Convention Center in some capacity for 24 years and as director since 1990.

Mike Shuford, the center's marketing director, was selected by the Carter Street Corp. board to take Mr. Riddle's post on an interim basis.

Panel Chairman Jimmy Hudson said Mr. Riddle, 48, will be missed but the facility is "in very good hands."

He said it was too early to examine the selection process for filling Mr. Riddle's post permanently.
