Benton gets energy-efficiency grant

The town of Benton in Polk County has been awarded a $100,000 Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant to upgrade its water treatment plant, Gov. Phil Bredesen announced Friday.

In a news release, the governor said the communities of Milan, Savannah and Watauga got similar grants, which are funded from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

All told, Tennessee has received $13.4 million in grants for 146 communities to fund energy efficient projects, the release stated.
