Car strikes Marietta, Ga. officer on I-75

MARIETTA, Ga. - Police in Marietta say one of their officers is recovering after his squad car was struck by another vehicle on Interstate 75.

Marietta police spokesman officer Michael Gardner says officer Dave Auld was doing speed detection in northbound traffic Monday night when another vehicle veered into his patrol car.

Gardner says the 45-year-old officer was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital with head injuries and was released several hours later.

The other driver, 31-year-old Fabio Prandini of Marietta, is charged with driving too fast for conditions and failure to maintain a lane. He told officers his car had been struck from behind.
