Chattanooga: 3 arrested, charged with meth manufacturing

Three people were arrested today, accused of running a methamphetamine lab, police said.

Kirtus Thompson, Carly McMellon, aka Carly Bohlman, and Derrick Meeks were held for decontamination and then charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, according to Chattanooga police spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary.

Mr. Meeks also was charged with possession of methamphetamine, Sgt. Weary said. He was taken to a local hospital for possible exposure while the other two were transported to the Hamilton County Jail, she said.

During a traffic stop at 4833 Hixson Pike, a police officer smelled a strange odor coming from the vehicle and saw a backpack with tubing coming out of it, Sgt. Weary said. A narcotics investigator was called to the scene and verified the presence of a lab as well as finished meth, she said.
