Chattanooga woman charged with attempted murder after domestic stabbing

Police arrived at a Bennett Avenue apartment Wednesday night to find a man lying in a pool of blood. By the time they left the man's girlfriend had been charged with attempted murder.

Tamila Sexton, 22, told police that she her boyfriend, Roger McNabb, 24, had been in a fight at their 1641 Bennett Avenue apartment.

According to a Chattanooga police report:

McNabb first told officers that he was "jumped by three black males and he was stabbed." But further questioning revealed that the pair had fought, Sexton called her mother to help her pack her things but McNabb began pushing her.

The two ended up in a "scuffle" on the floor and when Sexton's mother intervened McNabb moved to hit the mother.

Sexton grabbed a knife and "started cutting" McNabb. She told police that she "blacked out" and doesn't remember what happened.

McNabb had cuts to his legs and arms and a stab wound in his back that punctured a lung, filling it with blood.

Sexton is being held in the Silverdale Detention Center on one count of attempted first degree murder and one count of aggravated assault. Her bond was set at $2,000. She has a Hamilton County General Sessions Court date set for Nov. 5.
