Community leaders discuss improving education

Hamilton County community leaders met today and discussed how locals can improve area schools.

Although no definite steps were taken to address change, meeting organizers said just getting information to concerned citizens made the event a success.

"We think it went really well," Young Democrat President Joda Thongnopnua said. "We got a lot accomplished."

Leaders explained the details of a wide range of problems facing education to a room of about 60 community members. Teachers' ability to teach students to learn rather than perform well on tests, along with a lack of social support in students' home lives, topped leaders' concerns.
