Calhoun police still searching for shooting suspect

Police in Calhoun, Ga., are searching for a man suspected of shooting a 19-year-old in the back, then fleeing the scene.

Corey Mitchell, 35, whose last known address is Lithonia, Ga., is suspected of shooting Diondre DePaul Curtis twice from his car Thursday evening, then driving away, said Calhoun Police spokesman Lt. Tony Pyle.

Curtis, who is a 2010 graduate from Gordon Central High School, had to be airlifted to Erlanger hospital where he remained until Sunday, Pyle said.

Police are still on the lookout for Mitchell, who was last seen driving a green Ford Escort.

Maurice Antonio Kent, 20, was also hit by a stray bullet during the shooting but didn't suffer any serious injuries, police said.
