A Holiday Inn on Hixson Pike had to be evacuated at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday after a transformer at the hotel blew, according to the Chattanooga Fire Department.
The transformer lit on fire and started leaking, so, as of 10:30 p.m., Electric Power Board workers had turned off the power and were working on fixing the transformer.
Chattanooga Fire Department Capt. Terri Whiteside said in an e-mail that the repairs would take a couple hours.
