Arkansas' Knile Davis out for season with ankle injury

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The University of Arkansas says starting running back Knile Davis is expected to miss the season with an ankle injury.

The university said in a news release Friday that Davis was injured during a scrimmage on Thursday. Details of the injury were not disclosed.

Davis led all Southeastern Conference running backs with 1,322 yards rushing last season. He averaged 147 yards per game during the final seven games of the season.

He was a preseason second-team All-SEC choice and was on the watch list for the Doak Walker Award, Maxwell Award and Walter Camp Player of the Year Award.
