Thousands throng Georgia church for free dental care

WOODSTOCK, Ga. - Authorities say a crowd estimated at 4,000 people at its peak thronged a church offering free dental care in an Atlanta suburb.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports (http://bit.ly/n1MNqg) that the line outside First Baptist Church of Woodstock was estimated at 2,000 yards long Friday morning.

Dr. Richard Smith, a dentist and one of the organizers, said police stopped allowing more people to get in line at 7:30 a.m. He said people in line Friday who don't get treated will be seen on Saturday, but will have to wait in line all night.

The clinic, known as the Georgia Mission of Mercy, is being sponsored by the Georgia Dental Association. Officials said they were hoping to treat 2,000 patients during the two-day clinic for people who can't afford dental care.
