Chattanooga police are working to recover the body of a man found floating in South Chickamauga Creek.

Police spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary said two people kayakying in the creek spotted the body just before 5 p.m. She said the body was found half a mile from the Shallowford Road bridge near the intersection of Shallowford and Airport roads.

By 7 p.m., police were still working to pull the body from the river. The man has not been identified and no cause of death has been determined.
