A Duluth, Ga., man who was involved in an early morning crash in Whitfield County died on the way to the hospital.
The 33-year-old man, whose name hasn't been released pending notification of family, was driving north on Interstate 75 near the Carbondale exit around 1:40 when he appears to have run into a van, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
The man, who was driving a Toyota Camry, then hit an embankment and was ejected from the car, Cpl. Kris Hemphill with the GSP said. The driver wasn't wearing a seat belt.
A helicopter was called to airlift the man to Erlanger hospital, but the man kept fading in and out, Hemphill said. He was taken to Dalton but couldn't be revived along the way and died before reaching the hospital, Hemphill said.
No one was injured in the other vehicle, he said.
