Falcons take flight from Rock City

photo John Stokes and Dale Kernahan have released two young peregrine falcons at Rock City.

Chatty, a male peregrine falcon, is taking his time to let the sights of North Georgia just below Rock City sink in before he makes a fledgling flight from a hacking station this morning.

Chatty's brother, Lookout, flew from the hacking station at 6:32 a.m.

Dale Kernahan and John Stokes, with SOAR (Save Our American Raptors), hope the falcons will choose the region to make their home.

A third brother, Bruce, was released last week in Chattanooga and continues to hang around the downtown area, Stokes said.
