R.B. 'Rody' Davenport III, former Krystal chief, dies

Rodolph Blevins "Rody" Davenport III, longtime head and once owner of the Krystal fast-food restaurant chain, died Tuesday at his home on Lookout Mountain, Tenn. He was 82.

Davenport's father had been one of the co-founders of the chain in the early 1930s in Chattanooga.

Davenport long headed the chain as it concentrated its growth on the Southeast.

He had been married to the late Elizabeth Lupton Davenport, sister of the late Coca-Cola bottling company owner Jack Lupton.

Arrangements will be announced by Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 East Brainerd Road.
