After 86 years on the air, WDOD-AM 1310, the city's oldest radio station, is now silent. The change has no effect on WDOD-FM 96.5, according to Bernie Barker, station general manager. He said Bahakel Communications sold the 22-acre station property along the Tennessee River to The Baylor School. The station license "was surrendered to the FCC," he said.

He declined to get into details such as how long the purchase had been discussed, but said "it was an opportune time. We were having difficulties keeping it on air. Parts were getting harder and harder to come by and in some case we had to have them custom made. Baylor needed the property for expansion, so everything was very timely."
