Judge orders counseling for 12-year-old boy in rape of another boy

MEMPHIS - There will be no jail time for a 12-year-old Germantown boy who raped a 9-year-old neighborhood boy in the woods.

During a hearing this morning in Shelby County Juvenile Court, the defendant pleaded "no contest," which means he doesn't admit guilt in the May incident, but he isn't going to fight the charges either. That will result in a juvenile record for rape of a child.

The Houston Middle School student's parents stood beside the defendant on one side of the courtroom. The victim's father stood beside a Germantown police officer and detective on the other side.
