A Cobb County woman who threatened to kill herself and others in Cloudland Cayon State Park was handed over to medical personnel after a standoff Sunday night, Dade County Sheriff Patrick Cannon said.
Deputies began combing the state park for Christina Bailey, 34, after rangers found a note on Bailey's car stating that she was planning to kill herself, Cannon said.
"She had written that if anyone intervened she would kill them, too," Cannon explained.
After several hours, a patrol unit spotted Bailey as she was exiting the woods at the west rim of the park, a .38 revolver to her head, Cannon said. The sheriff said he and another sergeant carefully coaxed her not to pull the trigger.
"Fortunately we were able to talk her into putting the gun down," Cannon said.
According to the sheriff, Bailey never pointed the gun at anyone else.
She was taken into custody, and then immediately directed to medical evaluation, said Cannon.
