Trustees of the hospital authority that owns Hutcheson Medical Center have called a meeting for Friday to hear alternatives to partnering with Erlanger Health System, according to a document obtained by the Times Free Press.

Trustees will "receive short presentation[s] of other possible options from HMA and others" at the called meeting of the Hospital Authority, according to a preliminary agenda for the meeting.

HMA, or Health Management Associates, is a Naples, Fla.-based for-profit company that operates 59 hospitals in 15 states, according to its website.

Hutcheson officials have been negotiating with Erlanger on a partnership that would provide a financial infusion for the struggling community hospital.
