A 35-year-old woman was charged Friday with aggravated arson in connection with a fire at a vacant house April 18, according to Chattanooga Fire Department.
According to police, Lebron Eason was sleeping inside the vacant house at 2506 Wheeler Ave. Eason told investigators he awoke and saw Mesco Freeman lighting an unknown material. He said Freeman threw the flaming material in his direction and then ran out, according to a news release.
It's unclear what the relationship between Eason and Freeman is, according to investigators.
Eason told authorities he ran after Freeman but then went back to the house and tried to extinguish the fire. When he couldn't, he called 911. Firefighters were able to contain most of the damage to a bedroom.
When questioned by authorities, Freeman denied setting the fire.
Eason was arrested several days later on unrelated charges.
