Search continues for missing Gilmer County airplane

Searches continue for a plane that left Gilmer County Airport Monday and has not been seen since.

The Civil Air Patrol and local authorities searched today in North Georgia for the missing Beechcraft Bonanza which departed at 10:30 a.m. on a local flight.

Eighteen air searches were completed, searching more than 800 square miles in North Georgia, according to a release from the Civil Air Patrol.

More than 100 people have participated in the search-and-rescue mission, the release said.

The air search will end at dusk and resume in the morning, weather permitting, the release said, but the ground search continues.
