A two-car crash in Dalton sent one driver to the hospital today, police said.
The crash occurred about 5 p.m. near the intersection of Chattanooga and Shugart roads, Dalton Police Department spokesman Steve Zahn said in a news release.
The driver of a sport utility vehicle pulled out of the RaceTrac gas station and was struck by a passenger car traveling south on Chattanooga Road, Zahn said. The collision caused the SUV to overturn and cone to rest on its top.
One of the drivers was taken to Hamilton Medical Center with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries, Zahn said.
Charges are pending against the driver of the SUV, Zahn said.
Witnesses told police that a pedestrian was crossing the road at the time of the crash and may have been a contributing factor, Zahn said. The pedestrian walked into gas station and left by foot in an unknown direction, he said.
All police know about the pedestrian is that he or she was wearing a red shirt and had short hair, Zahn said.
Anyone with information about the pedestrian can call the Dalton police Traffic Enforcement Unit at 706-278-9085, ext. 124.
