A fatal car crash in Ooltewah this afternoon was the second this weekend to claim a life.

A car left the road in a curve in the 6900 block of Snow Hill Road about 12:30 p.m. today.

It happened near Virginia Selvidge's home on Snow Hill. Selvidge said in a telephone interview she heard a heard a thump and ran outside, "screaming bloody murder."

She couldn't fully see the car, but she thought it looked like her grandson's BMW. Police wouldn't tell her the name of the man who died, but they did tell her it was a Mercury and not a BMW.

Hamilton County Sheriff's Office deputies are still at the scene, and a name has not yet been released.

The first fatality came about 11:30 Friday, when a 16-year-old lost control in a curve in the 7500 block of Sims Road in Harrison. The 1994 Honda left the road and struck a tree, according to the sheriff's office.
