Chattanooga police and fire department officials at a site off Shallowford Road prepare for emergency response crews to send a boat upstream to retrieve a man's body found in South Chickamauga Creek.A man found dead 10 feet from the banks of South Chickamauga Creek on Aug. 21 has been identified by police.
The body belonged to 48-year-old Todd Staats, said Chattanooga police spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary, and the investigation into how he died is ongoing.
Staats was found wearing a backpack filled with weights, and police ruled the death suspicious.
Staats was found by two men who were canoeing and fishing on the creek.
