Vance Stafford, 26, pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide in the death of 59-year-old Bill Cooley Jr.

A 26-year-old Ringgold man pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide today in Catoosa County Superior Court.

Vance Stafford was sentenced to serve 15 years for the death of 59-year-old Bill Cooley Jr., who died two days after he was injured in a car accident on Battlefield Parkway.

But Stafford will be allowed to serve 12 to 28 months in Catoosa County Detention Center and the rest of his sentence on probation, officials said.

Stafford, who was driving with twice the legal alcohol limit in his blood, hit Cooley from behind on Oct. 5.
