State Rep. Joanne Favors, D-Chattanooga, appeared before the Chattanooga City Council today and told them she hopes the Legislature will have some amendments next year to a new voter identification law.

"There has not been adequate evidence of fraud to produce this legislation," she said.

The City Council is considering a resolution asking the state to give citizens two years to get photo identification in order to vote, as required by new law in order for Tennessee residents.

Council members have said the new law is unfair to some disadvantaged parts of the population, especially the elderly, who may not have photo ID.
