A man wanted for questioning in the death of a 17-year-old Alabama teenager is in custody, authorities say.

Todd Lashane Thomas, 43, of Boaz, is cooperating with the investigation related to the death of Alan Tarwater, said DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris in a news release.

The teen's body was found unresponsive in a residence on County Road 1931 around 3 p.m. CDT on April 4 by two other juveniles, Harris said. The boy apparently died from as-yet undetermined reasons while sleeping, according to the sheriff.

Thomas surrendered to sheriff's office personnel on Monday and was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, the sheriff said. He is being held on $3,000 bond.

An autopsy was performed on Tarwater by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Huntsville and the results of that examination are expected soon, Harris said.
