Chattanooga's newest police station is sporting an old-style sign.

The art deco-style "Police" sign that graces the front of the new 11th Street police station is a new twist on traditional law enforcement signage.

"It is pretty unique," said Danny Thornton, the city's director of general services.

Contractors have worked for months on refurbishing an old building at the former Farmer's Market site on 11th Street into a new downtown police station. Construction should be complete within two weeks.

Furniture, telephone and Internet connections are all that remain to be installed, he said.

The Chattanooga Police Department is expected to begin moving in early next year. The new station will house downtown patrol officers, as well as bicycle officers.
