Bill Kennedy, the Public Education Foundation's Director of Secondary Initiatives, will lead the Principal Leadership Academy on an interim basis as the board conducts a search for a permanent director.

Tom Edd Wilson, president & CEO of the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce and chairman of the board of the academy, announced the change today. In his role at PEF, Kennedy has been involved with school leadership training through the PLA.

"Bill Kennedy is well-known and well-respected among Hamilton County educators," Hamilton County Schools Superintendent Rick Smith said today in a statement. "He will bring important insight to the process of preparing educators to become principals, and he will be able to keep the Academy running full-speed without lag time for a learning curve."

Godfrey Saunders resigned as director of the Principal Leadership Academy effective Oct. 31 to be with his family in Montana.
