Two people were injured in a Chattanooga shooting Thursday night, police said.

A 21-year-old man and a 71-year-old man suffered nonlife-threatening gunshot wounds, Chattanooga police spokesman Nathan Hartwig said.

Chattanooga police responded at 8:40 p.m. to 3011 Taylor St. and found the victims, he said. They were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The victims' names have not been released and police were still investigating the incident.

The last Chattanooga shooting happened Oct. 31, when 18-year-old LaMichael Derrick was shot in the cheek while walking in the 1300 block of North Holtzclaw Avenue. His injury was not life-threatening.

Derrick was shot less than three miles from the spot Thursday's shooting took place.

Thursday's shooting is the 69th shooting in Chattanooga this year, according to Times Free Press records. Seventeen of those shootings involved fatalities.
