Some Hixson residents want more time for input into a proposed $100 million mixed use project off state Highway 153.
The residents are calling for Scenic Land Co. to withdraw its rezoning proposal for three months to allow for the input.
Developer Duane Horton of Scenic Land Co. said today he's continuing to seek community comments to the project.
"We're working to look at all the concerns out there," he said.
A news release from the Don't Chop the Hilltop group said that after meeting with members of the development team twice last week, residents questions remain unanswered and the development team is short on specifics,
"If you really want community input, you won't try to push this through during the holidays. We respectfully ask you to delay your zoning request for three months," said Hixson resident Ellie Wallis in a statement.
The rezoning proposal, which was filed with Chattanooga-Hamilton County Regional Agency on Nov. 9, is expected to go before the Planning Commission as early as Dec. 10 and the Chattanooga City Council as early as Jan. 8.
Horton has said he wants to put apartments, retail and office space on the 190-acre tract near U.S. Highway 27.
