Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam said today that Volkswagen wants to eventually add more production at its Chattanooga assembly plant.
"At some point in time, they'd like it to be in Chattanooga," he said at the Southern Automotive Conference. "They love the product being produced."
Haslam, who addressed about 500 people at the two-day auto conference, said VW "loves the product being produced at the plant."
"Passat sales speak for themselves," he said about the midsize sedan made in Chattanooga.
According to VW, Passat sales in the U.S. already have matched the all-time annual record.
