Terrell Robinson is back on the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football team.
The redshirt sophomore quarterback, who quit on Tuesday, has rejoined the Mocs, coach Russ Huesman told the Times Free Press today.
"He just came in this morning and said he wanted to be back a part of the team," Huesman said. "He said he felt like he let the team down, let the players down and was very humble. He wants to be a part of it and will do everything he can to help this team win."
Huesman said Robinson will practice today but will not be on the travel squad for Saturday's game at No. 24 Jacksonville State. Huesman's son, Jacob, a redshirt freshman, will make his first start against the Gamecocks.
Robinson's demeanor during his meeting with Huesman this morning impressed the coach. Especially his interest in making his own way to JSU Stadium on Saturday.
"That was actually one of the best things that he said, 'Coach, can I drive down there on my own and be on the sideline with y'all,' and I said yes," Huesman said, smiling. "Great comment right there. ... I was pretty proud of that."
The 2011 Southern Conference co-freshman of the year is back, but the Mocs' offensive plans to use Robinson and Jacob have not changed, Huesman said.
"I explained to him that nothing is going to change from our conversation on Monday," Huesman said. "He was fine with that."
That conversation, Huesman said, included UTC's plan to use two quarterbacks and the one with "the hot hand" will probably get more snaps.
"They're both going to play, they're both going to be huge factors in us winning football games," he said. "That's what we talked about Monday and that game [last] Saturday didn't change our opinion of anybody, good or bad."
Asked if all of this week's happenings will have an effect on how the Mocs do Saturday, Huesman confidently said no. He said everything that has happened has brought an already-close team even closer together.
