Teacher facing sex charge involving student

JACKSON, Tenn. - A West Tennessee high school teacher and soccer coach is faces sex charges involving a student.

Jackson police say 25-year-old Kendall Bell was arrested Friday on two counts of statutory rape by an authority figure and one count of sexual battery by an authority figure.

The Jackson Sun reports that the allegations involve a female student at the South Gibson High School, where Bell taught and coached boys' soccer.

Bell was suspended in April without pay when police began investigating the complaint. Gibson County Special School District director Eddie Pruett said on Friday that he was aware of new developments in the case, but no further action would be taken immediately.
