MACC introduces free concert series

A new concert series titled "Music at MACC" is beginning at Mountain Arts Community Center with a performance by Mountain Cove Bluegrass Band Thursday, Aug. 8 at 7 p.m.

Each of the five concerts in the series is free to the public and features area musicians.

"The MACC board felt strongly that we should offer something free in keeping with the MACC mission statement, which is to provide arts education on Signal Mountain," said MACC Executive Director Barb Storm. "We budgeted a small amount of money to help us provide good-quality entertainment for free."

The next concert in the series will be a gospel concert performed by Neshawn Calloway Oct. 3. Teachers from the MACC will be spotlighted Nov. 21, with performances by Michael Huseman, Melinda and Don Grohman, Alan Fhikoh, Johan Sentana, Trish Wileman, Roy Treiyor, Dan Landrum and Storm.

The March 13 concert's theme is "A Night at the Opera" and will feature an opera quartet led by Sara Snider Schone. Sounds of Tennessee, a barbershop-style chorus from Cleveland, Tenn., will perform during the final concert April 3.
