CNE seeks out volunteers for survey project

Chattanooga Neighborhood Enterprises wants to know what residents of Ridgedale and Highland Park think about their general neighborhood, but it needs your help to do so.

The nonprofit organization that works to foster livable neighborhoods throughout the city is calling for volunteers to help with a survey project in that area.

"We really want residents to respond about how they perceive the neighborhood," said project coordinator Tera Davidson. "We're going to have volunteers going door to door introducing themselves and the project."

Volunteer days Aug. 17 and 23 have been organized for teams of two to take surveys around the neighboring Highland Park and Ridgedale communities to seek out responses.

"We're hoping volunteer teams are residents from within the community mixed with outsiders," Davidson said. "We need as many as we can get. "

The surveys are the first step in a five-year project that ultimately plans to implement long-term housing revitalization programs within the neighborhoods. For the next six years, the same survey will be conducted every other year to determine changes in the neighborhood.
