Alabama woman arrested on drug counts

BRYANT, Ala. - A 36-year-old Bryant, Ala., woman was arrested Friday on drug charges after the Jackson County Sheriff's Office and Stevenson Police Department executed a search warrant at a home on County Road 139 in Bryant.

The search led to about a half an ounce of methamphetamine ICE, a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, a news release stated.

Sonya Gail Wade was charged with possession of controlled substances, possession with intent to distribute meth, unlawful possession of marijuana second degree and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

She is in the Jackson County Jail on a $16,000 bond.

Train trestle hit kills boater in Georgia

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Authorities say a 25-year-old woman died Sunday after a boating accident on the Ogeechee River.

The Savannah Morning News reported police and paramedics went to the King's Ferry boat ramp off U.S. 17 about 5:23 p.m. Sunday.

Georgia Department of Natural Resources Capt. Doug Lewis said Shana Crozier, of Savannah, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lewis said investigators were told that a boat went under a train trestle east of the ramp in the Ogeechee River in Chatham County and Crozier was hit by the trestle. Authorities say Crozier stood up in the boat.

Police find 14,000 pills, catch 2 men

NASHVILLE - Nashville police say two men they caught had more than 14,000 prescription pills taken in a pharmacy robbery.

The armed robbery occurred at a Rite Aid pharmacy in Old Hickory Sunday evening. Police Capt. Kenneth Walburn told The Tennessean that John Stewart, 27, jumped over a counter and filled a trash bag with pills and about $500 in cash. Police said Stewart then got into a car with Matthew Chrisman, 26, and fled the pharmacy parking lot.

Stewart fled on foot when police pulled over the car in Madison, but a K-9 unit subdued him.

Police charged both men with aggravated robbery after finding the pills and cash in the car. Stewart also was charged with evading arrest.

Police kill man who hit officers

BLUFF CITY, Tenn. - A man who police say struck two officers with a car has died after being shot by police.

The Kingsport Times-News reported that the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office said Monday the man died at an area hospital after the incident Sunday night. The TBI is investigating the officer-involved shooting, which is standard procedure.

The names of the man who was shot and the officers involved were not released.

The incident occurred at a crash scene, and a deputy was pinned between the suspect's car and another one.
