A Davidson judge today granted a one-week extension of her temporary restraining order barring the Haslam administation's plans to lay off 200-plus state employees this month.

After listening to arguments by attorneys for the Tennessee State Employees Association, which has sued the state, and the Tennessee attorney General's office, Circuit Court Judge Amanda McClendon said she was not ready to render a decision today.

State employees contend the administration did not follow what they argue are statutory requirements to provide job counseling and opportunities to employees affected by the reduction in force to apply for other state jobs.

The state argues it was not obligated to do so.
