Fatal fire investigated in Bledsoe County

March 5th, 2013 by Staff Report in Local - Breaking News

Family members of a Bledsoe County, Tenn., man found his home burned to the ground Monday morning, and when deputies arrived to investigate they found what is believed to be his body inside.

Bledsoe County Sheriff's Office Investigator Ricky Seals said today that officials do not suspect foul play but they want to make sure the body found in the home is that of the 64-year-old resident.

The fire happened off of Paul Holland Road, according to officials.

Woodrow Blalock, whose car was still in the home's driveway, last was seen Sunday getting kerosene for the heater in his home, which had no electricity, Seals said. The kerosene heater was his only source of heat, the detective said.

The body believed to be Blalock's was sent to Nashville for autopsy and to confirm the identity, Seals said.

"The neighbors live just 310 feet away, but they didn't see the fire and didn't know it happened," Seals said, who said state bomb and arson officials assisted in the investigation.
