Soddy-Daisy police say online threats made toward a middle school student came from a child.

Chief Phil Hamrick wrote in a Facebook post the the department could not release the identity of the suspect because juvenile records are confidential. But he said that the threats- which were posted on the photo-sharing social media site Instagram - appear to be a prank, and charges are pending.

The unidentified child posted several messages on Instagram on Wednesday night, and at least one targeted a Soddy-Daisy Middle School student.

"She will be gone," one of the messages read. "I will take Her life. Wait a week. And you will see."
