Update: Tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings and watches have expired for the Chattanooga area.

Officials said trees and power lines were down throughout areas of northwest Georgia.

The National Weather Service reported a store was destroyed and 12 homes were damaged between Cave Spring and Silver Creek, south of Rome in Floyd County. Officials said power lines had also fallen onto a vehicle on Padlock Mountain Road in Cave Spring.

Meteorologist Paul Barys of WRCB-Channel 3 says the Chattanooga area received "pea- to marble-sized" hail in this afternoon's thunderstorms.

Strong to severe storms are still possible until 10:00 p.m., Barys said.

Skies should clear about noon tomorrow. Highs are expected to be in the upper 50s.
