Autopsy expected soon in death of Georgia toddler

ELLABELL, Ga. - Authorities are expected to release an autopsy next week of a toddler who was fatally mauled by seven dogs her family owned in Ellabell.

Bryan County Sheriff's officials are also expected to meet with the District Attorney's office to discuss if charges will be filed in the attack that left 18-month-old Monica Renee Laminack dead.

Bryan County Sheriff Clyde Smith says the child's grandmother told investigators she was lying in bed Wednesday when she heard the pit bulls and pit bull mixes barking, and she looked outside her window to see them dragging the girl. The dogs were euthanized after the attack.

WTOC-TV reports officials expect to have autopsy results early next week.

Ellabell is about 25 miles west of Savannah.
