Chattanooga: Police memorial service held tonight

Officers, families and community members will gather tonight at 8 for the Chattanooga Area Law Enforcement Memorial Service at 600 Market St.

The service, which is open to the public, will feature area chiefs reading off the names of officers who died in the line of duty.

Allison Chapin, whose father Chattanooga Police Sgt. Tim Chapin died in the line of duty in 2011, will read scriptures during a service. Hamilton County General Sessions Court Judge Gary Starnes will be the keynote speaker.

Area law enforcement agencies participating in the services include: Chattanooga Police Department, Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, Bradley County Sheriff's Office, Cleveland Police Department, Grundy County Sheriff's Office, Red Bank Police Department, East Ridge Police Department, Rhea County Sheriff's Office, Walden Police Department and Whitwell Police Department.

Refreshments will be served in judicial center.
