Judge tweaks sentence for accused puppy-thrower

MOBILE, Ala. - A Mobile County Circuit Court judge has added community service to the sentence for a woman accused of flinging a puppy from a third floor balcony.

Judge Charles Graddick sentenced Kendria Monique Dexter to 90 days in jail, three years of probation and a $2,300 fine for the veterinarian who treated the puppy, Lola, who authorities say was thrown from a balcony during an argument between roommates.

The judge has also ordered Dexter to serve 50 hours of community service in activities related to caring for animals. Dexter will be supervised by the Mobile County Corrections Center.

The veterinarian who treated the dog said the 9-week-old dachshund struggled to breathe, could not stand and was in a near comatose state after being thrown from the balcony.
