Online retailer Amazon plans to hire 70,000 seasonal workers nationally and bring aboard "thousands" of more workers at its Chattanooga fulfillment center, the company said today.
The nation's No. 1 Internet retailer declined to be more specific about its holiday hiring plans. But, it said that interested candidates can learn more at www.amazonfulfillmentcareers.com, according to Amazon.
The Chattanooga facility, along with a similar fulfillment site in Charleston, Tenn., were estimated to have had about 5,000 full-time and temporary jobs last Christmas season.
This summer, prior to a visit to Amazon's Chattanooga facility by President Barack Obama, the company said it was adding dozens of additional full-time jobs in Chattanooga and Charleston.
At that time, Amazon said it employed about 1,800 full-time and 700 part-time workers in Chattanooga. In Charleston, the company had more than 500 full-timers and 800 people in total.
Amazon has built five distribution centers in Tennessee since 2011.
