OPP, Ala. (AP) - The number of pit bulls seized in a multi-state investigation of dog fighting has grown to 372.
The Humane Society of the United State says it picked up five pit bulls recently in Covington County at the request of federal and local investigators. The dogs were connected to one of the 12 men arrested during raids on Aug. 23. Those original raids resulted in the seizure of 367 dogs.
Officials said the dogs are being cared for at undisclosed locations and will be held as evidence while the case works its way through the courts.
The case involves defendants from Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi and Texas.
