MOBILE, Ala. - A skyscraper that's being called Alabama's largest residential building began welcoming owners this week.
Al.com reports that Phoenix West II on the Gulf of Mexico in Orange Beach is 32 stories high and includes 1.9 million square feet.
The $245 million condominium has been in the works on the city's west end for more than eight years. Gene Brett developed and constructed the project with his brother Tillis Brett and Tommy Robinson.
As of Friday, all but 15 of the condo's 358 units were sold, according to Bill Brett, Gene's son.
Although some amenities still need to be completed in coming weeks, such as the indoor pool and outdoor lazy river as well as lobby furnishing, about 10 individuals this week closed on units among the 30 residential floors.
