One man is in custody on homicide charges and another is dead of multiple gunshot wounds as Bledsoe County and state authorities try to sort out what happened at a location south of Pikeville, Tenn.
Bledsoe County Sheriff's Office investigator Ricky Seals said this morning that 32-year-old Casey Anderson is charged with criminal homicide after authorities responded to 883 Humble Cemetery Road, Sheriff Jimmy Morris was among the first to arrive to secure the scene for investigators who got there afterward.
The victim, a black male who has not yet been identified, had been deceased at least 12 hours when authorities arrived on the scene just after 8 p.m. CDT Tuesday, Seals said. Investigators believe the shooting might have occurred around 2 or 3 a.m. Tuesday.
Seals said Anderson and two women, all white and from the Chattanooga area, were still on the scene when authorities arrived. The call to authorities was made by the property owner, who Seals said had not been there when the shooting occurred or during the day as the dead man lay at the scene.
Anderson admitted to authorities he had shot the victim multiple times with multiple weapons, Seals said.
The body is being transported to the TBI Crime Lab in Nashville to determine his identity and the number of gunshot wounds to his body.
Seals said authorities are trying to determine the motive in the slaying.
Anderson, who was also wanted in Hamilton County on other charges, is being held without bond in the Bledsoe County Jail with a court appearance set for Friday.
