Fire department investigating vacant Davenport Street house fire

Chattanooga firefighters quickly put out a fire Tuesday night at a vacant house at 2217 Davenport St.

Lt. Wadie Suttles with Engine 4 said light smoke was showing from the left rear door when the first firefighters arrived and the fire inside a bathroom was extinguished it in a few minutes.

There were no injuries and the estimated damage was $5,000.

Lt. Andrew Waters with the Fire Investigation Division said some clothes had been set on fire on the bathroom floor. and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
