A man was apparently shot twice in the shoulder and arm early this morning, although he insisted to Chattanooga police that he had not been shot.

Police responded to 8022 Old Lee Highway at 6:35 a.m. today for a person shot call, according to the police department. When officers arrived, they found Allen Lee Edge, 60, bleeding profusely and transported him to the hospital.

When investigators interviewed Edge, he said he was unsure what had happened, but he thought he had been electrocuted by some unknown object while asleep, and that's what caused him to bleed, according to police.

However, the physician who treated Edge said that he'd suffered two gunshot wounds, one in the right shoulder and one in the upper right arm.

Investigators were unable to locate any witnesses to the incident. Anyone with information on this case is asked to call police at 423-698-2525.
